How to Use the PETKIT Cleaning Set for Your Fountain

Quick answer

The PETKIT Cleaning Set includes a brush and sponge to easily remove buildup from your pet fountain, keeping it operating smoothly and providing clean water.

Step-by-step cleaning guide

1. Disassemble the fountain: Unplug the fountain and remove the water pump, filter, and any other removable parts. Empty all remaining water. Check the pump manual for specific disassembly instructions to avoid damage.
2. Scrub with the brush: Use the included brush to scrub the pump chamber, water channels, and any narrow openings. Focus on areas where slime or mineral buildup is visible. Don't rush this step—thorough scrubbing prevents future clogs.
3. Wipe surfaces with the sponge: Dampen the sponge and wipe down the fountain basin, lid, and other large surfaces. The sponge's texture lifts residue without scratching. Rinse the sponge frequently to avoid redepositing dirt.
4. Rinse all parts thoroughly: Rinse every component under running water to remove loosened debris and soap residue if you used any. Soap residue can harm your pet; plain water is safest.
5. Reassemble and refill: Put the fountain back together, add fresh water, and plug it in. Check for proper water flow before leaving it unattended. If flow seems weak, repeat the brush step on the pump inlet.
